Working on behalf of the Ministry of Transportation and Transit, the Integris Project Management team supported the delivery of the Trans-Canada Highway 1 (TCH) four-laning project between Ford Road and Tappen Valley Road. This project forms part of the Province’s long-term investment in modernizing Highway 1 to improve safety, reliability, and economic connectivity across British Columbia.
The project included 4.3 km of four-lane highway widening, 7.4 km of new frontage roads, replacement of the aging Tappen Overhead Bridge, upgrades to the eastbound commercial vehicle pullout, lighting and paving within the Tappen Skwlāx community subdivision, improved access management for local roads including Tappen Valley Road and Sunnybrae Road, and the installation of median barriers to enhance corridor safety. These improvements significantly reduce collision risk, improve access for local communities, and create a safer, more efficient travel experience for all highway users.
Integris led overall project coordination and delivery as the primary point of contact, providing coordination of multidisciplinary consultants and contractors, Indigenous engagement support, stakeholder consultation, schedule and cost control, contract and change management, risk and issue management, and regular progress reporting to ensure the project was delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The project was delivered under the Community Benefits Agreement, requiring close coordination with the BC Infrastructure Benefits team.
As part of the Province’s commitment to upgrading Highway 1 between Kamloops and the Alberta border, this project advances the corridor toward a modern, 100 km/h, four-lane standard. The upgrades improve safety and travel reliability, strengthen connections between communities, and support the efficient movement of goods across the province, helping BC businesses access domestic and international markets through provincial trade corridors and ports.
